My name is Peter and I am the drummer for the
Dire Straits Tribute band:
I started out as a gospel drummer, playing in various venues and did that for about 18 years. During that time I also started a pop music band, for weddings, festivals, clubs and bars. and we have grown to become one of the most sought-after bands in the region.
After 11 years we seperated and I joined a pop/rock band Diezl where we entered a compatition called the Clash of the coverbands. Here we won first prize and have had many great performances since: big venues, festivals and support acts.
I have worked on this project of and on for about 15 years.
During that time I started Kinda Black, the Urban Dance Experience with 6 dancers and a professional cheorgafer. It was the largest project I had done up to that point. That project lasted for about 15 years.
Due to a highschool friend who was a sound engineer working for television I also did a lot of studio projects, from drumming to vocals.
Over the years I played with several musicians and bands varying from jazz, blues, gospel, pop, rock, r&b, hip-hop and dance.
All and all I've been a musician for almost 30 years and still going.
And as of 2024 I have been the drummer of the Dire Straits Tribute band: On the Night
DRUMKIT:
Over the years, I have had various setups that were all tailored for the specific bands. For instance, with Kinda Black, I had a very extensive drum kit with a lot of electronics(triggers, pads, kicks) to get as close as possible to the specific sound of the record.
And now with the Dire Straits I am going quite back to basics again, and I tried to match the setup from their early years of touring, and I definitely succeeded, adding a drum rack system and some electronics.
Despite the fact that the music of Dire Straits is quite pop/rock oriented in terms of drumming, it still requires a fair amount of electronics to match their somewhat theatrical music style in some songs, wich allows me to be more creative in the musical process of this project. And it has been fun to be creatively engaged in creating a setup that is both effective and visually appealing. ..at least to me.

For me drumming is not just about beating a rhythm. It is the engine of the band, an extension of your feelings and your passion. It determines the atmosphere and tone of the music and the show. And I try to express that as much as possible in my drumming, performance and my setup
